FreeChemDraw is a free online chemical structure editor based on open-source Ketcher and OSRA; integrates with ChemTradeHub to fetch structures by CAS, formula or name.
Overview
On October 16 I launched FreeChemDraw, a free online chemical structure editor. Besides drawing structures interactively, it can perform OCR on structure images to extract structure information.
Open-source Stack
- Ketcher — editor UI powered by EPAM Ketcher.
- OSRA — image-to-structure OCR using OSRA (Optical Structure Recognition Application).
Planned Integration with ChemTradeHub
I plan to connect ChemTradeHub's compound database so users can fetch structures automatically. By entering a CAS number, molecular formula, or a standard name, the system will retrieve the corresponding structure — no manual drawing required.
