Bitcoin (BTC) Surpasses $100,000
Bitcoin surpasses $100,000. The author recalls their previous attempt to enter the crypto world. Although it was ultimately unsuccessful, they learned valuable lessons. The author transferred assets from OKX to Gate, but later encountered issues with some main chains and NFT projects, causing asset depreciation. Currently, the author holds about 28,000 RMB on Gate, including ETH and AVAX, without withdrawing any funds.

BTC has surpassed $100,000. Although it has nothing to do with me financially, it reminded me of my earlier attempts to enter the crypto space a few years ago. Reflecting briefly, I guess I can say I’ve experienced BTC crossing the $100,000 milestone in spirit.
Around 2021, I dabbled in Web3. I deposited around 20,000 RMB into OKX, which required KYC verification. After depositing, I followed some crypto influencers on Twitter and learned about so-called “local tokens” and asset measurement in the A-series, like A8 representing eight-figure assets. I deposited into OKX, converted to ETH, and then transferred to the Ethereum chain. At the time, NFTs were very popular; a single monkey NFT could be worth a lot of money, and apparently, JJ Lin even owned some. I claimed many free NFTs, but had to pay fees intermittently, which ended up costing quite a bit. The free NFTs turned out to be practically worthless.
Initially, I hoped to achieve financial transformation through technical investment—a quick path to wealth—but I realized trading wasn’t my forte. Experiencing firsthand a coin dropping from $100 to $0, even with a small investment, gave me a feeling only personal experience could teach. I decided to step away.
Previously, I transferred all OKX assets to Gate. At the time, I still had about 16,000 RMB left, mainly in ETH, AVAX, and Matic. Over the years, I kept Gate on my phone and occasionally checked it. Unexpectedly, the Matic main chain was renamed; I recently sold it at a loss. A few days ago, I sold AVAX as well. Just now, I checked, and Gate shows around 28,000 RMB remaining (holding 0.2 ETH, 3000 USDT), without withdrawals. I’ll leave it for now.
Looking at this 28,000 figure and considering the dozens of NFTs I still have on-chain, it feels like I haven’t lost and might have even gained.
