[Diary] Reflections on AI's Impact on Me Recently
In December 2024, I developed a simple Python+SQLite blog system using Windsurf, later adding AI-generated summaries and webp images. It felt addictive. Then I created a Tic-Tac-Toe game and a parent-child online game site, and finally purchased domains and launched a free chemistry tools website. After reflection, I decided to give up the illusion that AI can fully replace development—it can assist but not substitute. In January, I started using AI with .NET + MongoDB to rebuild the development framework and launched a free chemical directory site.

One significant event impacting my life and work happened in December 2024, when I used Windsurf to build a simple Python blog system. After that, I felt addicted. Here's a timeline:
- 12-01 Using Windsurf to develop a Python+SQLite simple blog system. Generated a runnable system in 10 minutes, spent a few hours in total. Later added AI-generated summaries, webp images, and friend links.
- Mid-December, spent 2-3 hours at night using Windsurf and JS to build a Tic-Tac-Toe game because my son kept wanting to play with me on paper after school.
- Inspired by the Tic-Tac-Toe game, later in December, still guided by Windsurf, I launched the first version of a parent-child online game site FamilyFunHub.com in a few hours, built with Nuxt+Vue, internationalized, supporting 9 languages.
- 12-30 purchased a domain, and from Jan 1-4 launched a free chemistry tools website ChemToolsHub.com, also internationalized with 10 languages, initially 15 tools, later added one more. Because the Windsurf monthly quota ran out, switched to Cursor, Python+Django, equally convenient.
These events made me careless. Who would have thought before that a single tool could generate a complete small system, even in unfamiliar tech stacks! Though I didn't know Python or Nuxt, AI made it possible. I even tried to rewrite my .NET Blazor toB platform with AI, falling into a trap, trying Python and Nuxt with Windsurf and Cursor, eventually chose Nuxt. As I progressed, AI repeatedly caused issues in unfamiliar areas, and my newly charged Windsurf quota was half used in two days.
After reflection, for future business considerations, I gave up the illusion. AI can assist development and enhance my weaknesses but cannot fully replace coding. In January, leveraging AI (Windsurf+Cursor) with .NET + MongoDB, I rebuilt the development framework to serve as a future SaaS platform.
- 1-15 Saw a domain sale on Spaceship, got a directory site domain. The .NET framework's basic authentication was ready, so I processed data conversion and launched a free chemical directory site ChemSitesHub.com on Feb 7.
The recently popular national-level app DeepSeek, honestly, I rarely use it. I mostly use ChatGPT and avoid DS discussions on Twitter simply because I don't want to.
The next blog post will cover practical insights I learned recently about building backlinks from Twitter experts.
